Making history for women’s routine health screening, Forte Medical has launched Peezy Midstream, the innovation that brings routine UTI and antenatal screening into the 21st Century with dignity, hygiene and accuracy. This novel and disruptive device was designed by an NHS GP who listened to his female patients when they complained that collecting midstream urine (MSU) into the traditional tube or cup was dirty and undignified.

With Peezy Midstream the work of capturing a gold-standard sample is automatic. The innovation is easily available to GP surgeries and antenatal clinics through the NHS Supply Chain.

Peezy Midstream is shown to reduce specimen contamination from a national average 20%-30% to between 0% and 2.5%. It meets urine collection guidelines as well as new Government criteria for prevention and precision across point of care testing. Critically it is user-friendly for women for whom hygiene and dignity is overlooked. Unreliable urines can lead to unnecessary antibiotic prescribing, repeat tests, repeat appointments and a whole lot of avoidable resources and expenditure for healthcare providers – not to mention risks associated with AMR and Sepsis.
